Atsuko was born and raised in Yamagata, Japan. Ever since being a young girl, she was fascinated by the phenomena caused by pigmentation of colour and water. 

She paints household objects to which she is emotionally attached. Through painting her beloved things, she also expresses a sense off incongruity with her belongings. Feelings such as embarrassment; for holding on to too many items, or the bitter memories that are attached to them.
